October 2020 - Knocklofty Reserve

The planned walk for this month was Knocklofty Reserve, a large reserve of native bushland a couple of minutes from the city suburbs of West Hobart and Mt Stuart. The walk was organised by Bob and led by the local in our group, Wayne, who is very familiar with the many trails in the reserve.

The weather forecast was for a shower or two in the morning, so we aimed to be flexible with our start time and trail options to adapt time and distance to suit the weather on Sunday 25 October 2020.  We met at  the Forest Road carpark at 10:30 am and  today we had  Bob,Wayne, Gerwyn, Greg, Kat, Philip and Lyn.

We headed off along the Mt Stuart track to the Quarry which we were not allowed to enter . The views from here are out over the northern suburbs.

The showers stopped and we continued to traverse the trails in search of more vistas.

We soon came across a glimpse of kunyani

And then we came to Frog Dam which had quite a bit of water from recent rains and some very quiet frogs which was unfortunate as we were unable to discern the specified croaks.

From here we were back to the city views

The sun was now out so we sat at one of the many picnic tables along the route for lunch and headed home a bit after 1pm.
